The Energy Management and Efficiency Programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET). EMEP supports the Government of Jamaica’s efforts to ensure energy conservation and energy efficiency is enforced and upheld.

EMEP seeks to bolster sustainable development by reducing electricity consumption in government facilities, lowering fuel consumption with improved traffic control management and enable MSET to increase its capacity to evaluate strategic energy alternatives.

To counter Jamaica’s high consumption of non-renewable resources, EMEP is working to reduce energy costs in Health, Education and Public Agencies (HEPA) through retrofitting. This includes solar, LED lighting and inverter technology.
