BACKGROUND
JaCIRT was established to deliver on the mandate outlined in the GoJ’s National Cyber Security Strategy, 2015. JaCIRT’s functions include but are not limited to:
- Developing Cyber Security related policy and strategy;
- Developing and maintaining cyber security standards;
- Contributing to the development of Cybercrime related legislation;
- Incident response;
- Incident management;
- Website monitoring and alerts;
- Threat monitoring and management, that is, identifying the sources of external incidents and proposing controls to minimize risk;
- Assisting with the conduct of risk assessment in Ministries, Department and Agencies and security analysis on any reported incidents;
- Developing Cyber Security training modules and technical documentation;
- Conducting knowledge sharing sessions among other technical personnel on lessons learnt or new findings;
- Analysing logs and other digital content of systems;
- Designing and executing vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits as needed.
