Cyber Incident Response Team (JaCIRT)

BACKGROUND

JaCIRT was established to deliver on the mandate outlined in the GoJ’s National Cyber Security Strategy, 2015.  JaCIRT’s functions include but are not limited to:

  • Developing Cyber Security related policy and strategy;
  • Developing and maintaining cyber security standards;
  • Contributing to the development of Cybercrime related legislation;
  • Incident response;
  • Incident management;
  • Website monitoring and alerts;
  • Threat monitoring and management, that is, identifying the sources of external incidents and proposing controls to minimize risk;
  • Assisting with the conduct of risk assessment in Ministries, Department and Agencies and security analysis on any reported incidents;
  • Developing Cyber Security training modules and technical documentation;
  • Conducting knowledge sharing sessions among other technical personnel on lessons learnt or new findings;
  • Analysing logs and other digital content of systems;
  • Designing and executing vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits as needed.
